A personal note from Dr. Greenfield:
I was not a healthy kid. I grew up eating the Standard American Diet. I was a latch-key kid who learned how to make Kraft Macaroni and Cheese at age 7. I started drinking Diet Coke as a teenager and developed a 20 year eating disorder when I was 15. Unrelenting joint pain brought me to a chiropractor when I was 17. In my 20s, I was a mess emotionally and physically. I did not win the genetic lottery…at all.
But small seeds were planted at age 25 when I wondered “is it normal to be this tired at my age?” I started visiting a local herb shop and began learning little things to help myself feel better. Though I was still a junk food vegetarian and an aerobics addict, I started drinking herbal teas to help with my hormonal imbalances, started to look at the chemicals I was exposed to, and started questioning my health assumptions. I started living a more natural lifestyle rather than one that was artificial and disempowering.
During this time, I was trying to figure out what to do with my life when I received very strong guidance to become a chiropractor. That had never crossed my mind before but the calling was so profound that I followed it. Being in chiropractic school transformed me and my health. I am grateful for that foundation.
Fast forward to now. I’ve been in practice for over 20 years. While I am a holistic chiropractor, I have been called to serve this community with open heartedness, compassion, kindness, knowledge, and experience. I’ve worked very hard to get where I am today. I am proud of who I am and what I offer to my patients and this community. I know how important it is to feel seen, heard, and understood.
Personally, I’m a highly sensitive introvert. With all of the healing I have done over the past decades, I no longer feel shame about being so sensitive. I now try to think of it as my super power.
I try to live my life in sync with the seasons. I grow as much of my own food and herbs as possible. Right now I have 10 chickens and I adore them. I live on an acre way north of town and am slowly converting the open space to growing vegetables, fruit, and herbs in mini permaculture food forests. Gardening grounds me, brings me joy, and helps me when I am anxious.
